Enclosed Composting Facility
At Enrich we offer a simple solution for recycling organic material, while at the same time reducing the need to extract natural resources. The Enrich purpose built composting facility is the most advanced of its type in Ireland and employs the best available technology from other European countries.
The combined material is first loaded into air tight sealed bunkers. The floors of these bunkers are fitted with an air distribution system that blows air up through the composting material. A series of extraction fans then remove this air from the roof of the bunker and direct it back under the material. The temperature within these bunkers is maintained at 55 degrees for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.
The elevated temperatures results in large quantities of water being evaporated. In order to maintain optimum moisture levels water is returned to the bunkers via a sprinkler system incorporated into the bunker roof.
After 3 to 4 weeks in the bunkers, the material is removed to a maturation area where air continues to be blown through the material. As most of the easily degradable material has now being consumed by the micro-organism the requirement for air is less than in the bunkers. In the maturation area, material is further decomposed to produce a nutrient rich material.
