At Enrich we offer a simple solution for recycling left over food, while at the same time reducing the need to (consumer/extract) natural resources. Within the climate controlled environment of our in-vessel composting facility, leftover food and garden material are transformed into a nutrient rich peat free soil amendment.

Enrich purpose built composting facility is the most advanced of its type in Ireland and employs the best available technology from other European countries.

Incoming food and garden material are mixed together. This is required to break up any large pieces and ensure adequate structure.

The combined material is then loaded into air tight bunkers. The floors of these bunkers are fitted with an air distribution system that blows air up through the composting material. A series of extraction fans then removed this air from the roof of the bunker and direct it back under the material. The temperature within these bunkers is maintained at 65degrees for a period of 20-30 days.

The elevated temperatures results in large quantities of water being evaporated. In order to maintain optimum moisture levels water is returned to the bunkers via a sprinker system incorporated into the bunker roof.

After 20-30 days in the bunkers the material is moved to a maturation area, in this area air continues to be blown through the material, but as most of the easily degradable material has now being consumed by the micro-organism the requirement for air is less than in the bunkers.

In the maturation area, material is further decomposed so that the nutrients become available to plants.
